It took me thirteen continuous hours to design my first print advertisement for my college annual fest and I lost track of time during the course of event. It was that day, during my second year in engineering that I realized what I want to do with my life. After graduation, I started off as a business development Executive but my appetite for design persisted and I kept working as an independent designer for profitable and non profitable organizations during my free time. However I was looking for a course that would be an amalgamation of design comprehension and business practices which would give me a platform to nurture my potential and aid me to do what I love. I believe the ID&BM curriculum will give me the ideal environment to accomplish my goals in the field of design management.
Art always sensitized me. As a kid, I won a number of painting competition and accolades from my teachers during my school days. However being a meritorious student and good with trivial scientific calculations, I decided to pursue engineering. These four years gave me the introspection of my past and helped me infuse design holistically into technology by understanding the simple laws behind complex ideas. It made me understand that a simple act of rotating wire over a magnet can instigate a power house big enough to light up an entire city.
After my graduation, I joined a Crane manufacturing unit. My first assignment was to get rid of redundancies in correspondence with my Chinese counterparts and I was really successful with it as for this, I received a number of recommendations. I learned from them that language holds no barrier when your thoughts match.
It’s my second organization that I am currently working for and being on the field gives me immense opportunities to learn from people with diverse background and expertise that enables me to understand the intricacies of the existing market and the methods that regulate it. It made me understand the businesses and the requirements more ergonomically. I was able to develop a new line of business for my company in the form of facility Management services.
Hong Kong is rated very highly on index of Economic freedom. It plays the pivot of new dogma in Asian economy. With more and more global businesses getting their foothold in Asia and competitive consumer demands getting stringent, the business trend is shifting fastidiously from Original equipment manufacturers to Original Design manufacturers. People now look at a product aesthetically rather than just economically. This growing need of creating novelty in compliance with viability of the product creates opportunities for design managers. I am applying for International design & business management course as the curriculum will give me the desired multifaceted exposure of business design management. ID&BM will help me to evaluate my decisions more acutely, not just as the designer but even more astutely as the user. It will help me to develop necessary tools and tactics that will augment my methodologies and make them more enticing. This college imbibes an international faculty that will give me the exposure to study design and business paradigms across different boundaries. It will add dimensions to products that would cater to global as well as local audiences.
Being an Indian, it gives me the proud opportunity to be part of a culture that is more than thousand years old. We are a part of an entity formed out of molds of different worlds of Aryan, Dravidian, Hindu, Persian and many more. We have some of the worlds oldest and most sought after artifacts like Taj Mahal, an astounding realm of creativity and perseverance that backs our rich heritage. I want this Indian blend to be savored and praised. I want to incorporate my roots with modern day thinking to bring our traditional techniques to a global platform. I want to bridge the gap between the methods adopted by a local artisan and the corporate need so that we can grow as one global – local market.
