Hi I am Applying for MSc Information Systems, can you review my letter of intent for me.
MOTIVATION FOR APPLYING FOR MSc IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS Africa's urgent priority is to reduce poverty by bridging the gap in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through research, which is one of the socio-economic drivers that benefit the poor. Human resource capacity development in Information Systems is one of the major interventions that could potentially address the ICT gap that currently exist in Ghana and the developing countries at large. The MSc programme in Information Systems at University of Münster is therefore well designed to meet the demands described above. The state-of-the-art facilities and the international friendly culture that exist at University of Münster motivated me to choosing pursue my MSc study at this University. I have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science degree in ICT after successfully undergoing four year training at the Presbyterian University in Ghana. I have also had the opportunity to work with Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) in Ghana as a Data Manager. With this background, my career ambition is to aspire to the level of contributing to developing methodologies using Information Technology to transform humanities research and training in Information Systems is an opportunity to pursue this ambition. This will enable me to develop the capacity to explore new and efficient ways of tackling problems, opening up new questions and creating new knowledge. The experiences gained so far and the desire to learn new concepts and practical approaches in Information Systems, new ways of processing data, particularly large bodies of data and implementing state-of the art methodologies used specifically in this area are the main motivation for applying for this programme. KHRC lacks expertise in Information Systems and has depended on external expertise to help in this area. My training is strategically suited as this vacuum will be filled if I am granted the opportunity to purse this course. The knowledge and skills that will be acquired could also be transferred to staff at the research centre which could lead transformation and development of the human resource capacity of our institution. I had the opportunity to play a key role in a team of IT specialist at the data management department of KHRC to migrate most of the FoxPro databases to SQL. I believed as a team player if we succeed in empowering peers and subordinates to realize their full potential, we can do great things together as a team. This is exactly the attitude I want to take with me to the University of Münster. Surrounded by fellow students, the sharpest minds from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds, I want to do my best to empower fellow students and work together as a team to get the most of our MSc experience, in study groups, group projects. Moreover, I would love to share my leadership; IT, Data Management and research experience and insights with fellow students in the course of my studies, while helping other students realize their own initiatives to enrich my both professional and student experience at University of Münster.
