Letter of intent

Could you help me to review my Letter of Intent before I submit to my University :-)

I will really appreciate for your professional help.

Sincerely,

PAchina

Dear Sir or Madam,

This letter is in support of my application for the Master’s Degree in Soil Management and Environment for the fall semester 2012 at UNIVERSITY.
My Undergraduate studies I made in Agroindustry Engineering at TN University, Ecuador in 2010. At the university I was awarded with upper-first class degree with a GPA of 9.36/10, this gave me different challenging opportunities such as being the Student Leader of the College of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences in the Honorific Council of the University for three years and also win an scholarship for an internship in Germany with the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD as sponsor and * Universität as host.
Trying to keep my GPA high every year of my undergraduate studies was a big challenge for me, because I had to attend to different meetings and at the same time be responsible with all the projects and homework that my professors assigned me. I was always very optimistic and my professors motivated me to keep going and I never gave up. I am a very active person and I really enjoyed my Student position as a leader. I gave my best and learn how to organize, plan and manage the time of every activity and project. This gave me the opportunity to get involve in different international projects related with Biodiversity and Environment with the Graduate College of my University and the Leuphana Universität (Germany). One of my main goals was trying to search the answer to all my questions and concerning overseas, and as a student I always worked hard and did my best in every task that my professors assigned to me. I consider myself as a curious and ambitious person, who is concern about the society and nature future. While I met professionals from different countries I stay in contact to work in further projects together. In this globalize world I am more than sure that with my network someday we can solve some problems and share our different point of views, methods and technology. With some classmates we created a club for Sustainable Development after we saw the necessity of the bad behavior of the students with the waste of water in the restrooms, paper and plastics. We worked with some campaign of the 3R’s Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. This club was one of the first clubs created inside of my University and I participated also as a member of other different clubs such as Ecology ** and Robotics.
After I finished my bachelor studies I had the opportunity to make an internship at ISU in Soil Fertility, the research was focus in Cover Crops and Residual Removal studies. Here I reaffirm my interest to study Soil Science. I had the chance to do research on field and at the laboratory this gave me the chance to improve my skills to manipulate machinery and laboratory equipments and followed the process precisely. Throughout this internship I had the chance also to assist to different conferences, this let me met professionals that work as consultants and farmers and talked about the problems of the agriculture around the States and the World. After all that I learnt and the experience that I gained as an intern student was unique, made me dig so deeply of the importance of the soil management and the quality of the environment specifically soil and water resources as one of the current concerns that the agronomist need to pay attention and handle it. My worked as intern student moved my ambition to a scientific direction, and made me feel the necessity to continue my graduate studies has been the base to my search to improve myself and apply to your University. One of my biggest concerns is how the agronomist treated the soil in my homeland Ecuador; they only care the production and don’t pay too much attention to the soil conditions before and after planting. Much less the quality of the water resource. I want to help in the immediately future to solve these problems.

I am confident that with my strength I can give my best to everything I undertake and never compromise with modesty I can contribute a valuable part to the University. Through current challenging times, I understand that in order to reach my goals, apart from hard work I have to obtain a solid understanding of academic principles that will provide me with a global perspective and will allow me to chase my dreams of entering a international organization and contributing in my best way to its benefit.

I highly believe that studying at *** University will be a great opportunity because is one of best in Agronomy in all over the State and in the World, because of its outstanding educational system, focus in solving the current problems of our society and nature, and its excellent facilities as one of the first grant-land universities. I am confident of my decision and with the help of many distinguished scientists and professors I know that I will be able to achieve expert knowledge and success here.

I hope this letter will be given your full consideration and I will be happy to provide any further information you may require.

Yours sincerely,

Pachina Muyacan
