Letter Writing

Letter formatting

I work for a law firm. I don't know if it matters, but I am a yankee in the south. (if that matters). I have years of experience working in office environments. I have always been taught (and have practiced) in formatting a letter, no matter what the style (block, full block, etc.), that the date should ALWAYS line up with the signature.

When I see otherwise, it makes me angry! (not real angry, but somewhat). Am I wrong;if so I will concede the point.

Thank you.

Dear Guest, I hope someone answers your question. I don't know the answer or else I would answer your question. What you might want to do is google various terms (letter, block, full block) and see what the Internet says.

I am not even sure which style I use. I just use the same style regardless and plow forward.

Good luck.

I am really replying to my own original posting. I followed the suggestion to search under block, full block, etc. and found, in "The Mayfield Handbook of Technical I& Scientific Writing" on the internet: ..."the heading and the closing aligned at the center of the page." So, it appears I was right.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Raknaja,

Welcome to English Forums.

I think you want to start a new thread. If you go back to the letter writing section (), you can will see in the top left hand corner "New Post". When you select that button, you will create a new post or thread.

Hope that helps.
