Letter for withdrawing from a subject (formal)

Hi, any feedback to this letter would be greatly appreciated!!

Dear ......,
I am writing this letter to request withdrawal from Mathamatical Methods.
From the outset, I was aware that I would have difficulty with the subject, having performed below average in units 1 and 2. The reasoning behind continuing the subject was for a wider array of opportunities for university. However, in hindsight the courses which I have decided to study do not require Mathematical methods as a prerequisite. Furthermore, having completed unit 3 my marks were below average, highlighting my difficulty with the course material.
I would like to drop the subject so that I can focus on my remaining subjects. As I have difficulty with this subject, it takes a large portion of my crucial study time, time that can be well utilised for other subjects which will have a greater yield at the end of the year. The stress associated with a strenuous and difficult subject bears heavily on my confidence and diminishes motivation for study.
I have made this decision after several discussions with my parents and much self-evaluation. I’m finding it hard to cope with this subject and I would rather concentrate on my other subjects.
Please approve this request and allow me to excel in my remaining subjects.
Thank you for your consideration.
