I am not sure that both Z and N look the same upside-down, though.

It depends how you turn them. If you rotate them like a spinning wheel viewed from the side, it works. If you roll them away from you, it doesn't.

I thought "upside-down" means "reflection to a horizontal line", not "180 degrees rotation".

It means that that the end that's normally at the top is at the bottom, and vice-versa, for example a table with its top on the ground and its legs pointing straight up.
