Bioshopsgate,

London

Dear Sirs ,

This ship loaded her cargo in the port of River, and then proceeded on her regular route to London. When approaching the English coast, the sea was calm, but the visibility very poor due to dense fog.It was limited to several meters.Owning to a strong current our position was uncertain. On 26th December at 1145 G.M.T. the ship struck a rock near the Isle of Wight and suffered such serious damage to her bottom that she had to be run ashore in order to prevent her from sinking.

The cargo was discharged into lighters from Southampton, and the ship with the assistance of two tugs was refloated and taken into dry dock.Repairs should be completed by the end of the present week and the ship re-loaded.She will then resume her voyage to London where you may expect her on the 3rd January.

We should be much obliged if you could arrange for the ship to be discharged without delay as soon as she berts.

Yours faithfully,

Master
