Let's set the tables

Hi,

Last night, we had a pastor from America to teach us something about the Bible. Not long before the class, we wanted to connect several tables together so that we could sit closer together, including our pastor. So, how should I say it? Are the following right? Thanks for your guidance.

Let's set/arrange the tables (together.)

Let's connect the tables.

Thanks, Clive.

To make sure, does "let's set the tables together" work?

Hi,

No, you wouldn't normaly use 'set' in a context like that.

We often just say 'put'.

Let's put the tables together.
Let's pull the tables together.
Let's slide the tables together.
Let's scoot the tables together.

Let's [put / pull / slide / scoot] the tables next to each other.

I'm partial to "slide"! "scoot" is a bit slangy.
