Let's... question tag.

Hi people!

I can't work out what the question tag for the following sentence could be:

Let's go to the park, _____ we?

The best option that comes to my mind is:

Let's go to the park, shall we?

However, I see that my example is not exactly a tag question (in a grammatical sense), for it is neither in the negative nor is it a repetition of the auxiliary(?).

So, what other options could be possible?

The same happens when I try to use the imperative: "Close the door, ____ you?" Which words would fit in this context? Here I've come up with some possibilities: will, would, could, may. Are they correct?

Thanks a lot!

Mara.

Hi Mara, Let's go to the park, shall we? Yes, this is correct. In speech, we often just say things like Let's go to the park, OK?

Hello Clive

Does "shan't we?" sound weird as the tag question for "Let's …"?

Hi Paco,

Yeah, it sounds very wrong. Shan't would be OK as the tag for a sentence that actually contained shall, eg

I've forgotten our schedule. We shall be in Montreal next week, shan't we?

Hello Clive

Thank you for the quick reply. I made the question because some English grammar sites from China are saying as if "shan't we" were another option for the tag of "Let's ..". But now I understand they are wrong. Thank you.

Will is best. Would is OK. Could is substandard. May is wrong.
