Is it correct in English to say?
Some cats let themselves die.
Some cats leave themselves to die.

The grammar seems ok but they both sound very unnatural to me. If I wanted to express that same idea, I'd probaly said Some cats ( are known to) starve themselves to death.

The grammar seems ok but they both sound very unnatural to me. If I wanted to express that same idea, I'd probaly said
Some cats ( are known to) starve themselves to death.
Some cats ( are known to) starve themselves to death.
