Please tell me which one of the following sounds better, thanks!

1.Please write down your password on a notebook lest you forget it.

2.In case you forget your password, please write it down on a notebook.

(But I would write IN a notebook, not ON a notebook.)

lest /lest/ conj. (formal or literary)
1 in order to prevent sth from happening: He gripped his brother’s arm lest he be trampled by the mob.

Not to take sides, but aside from the fixed expression "lest we forget", I think you could easily put lest in the same category as shall, whom, and may. There's four words that Americans can get by without -- no problem.
