less/fewer more (x2)

If it’s so important to distinguish between "less" and "fewer", why don’t we have two different words to distinguish between the two kinds of "more"?

It just happens that we don't. Incidentally, though learners are recommended to use 'less' and 'fewer' correctly in order not to risk losing points in examinations, many speakers of BrE don't. 'Less' is becoming the default word of choice.
