Could you please check the following sentences if they are correct regarding the usage of 'less' & 'lesser'?
He is a man of lesser calibre/ lesser strength/ lesser spirit (than others).
He has a less calibre/ less strength/ less spirit (than others).
I have got a lesser raise at work than my colleagues.
My raise at work is less than my colleagues'.
And also, is the first sentence in the following pair right? If right, what's the difference between the two sentences?
He is a lesser known artist.
He is a less known artist.
Please help! I'm in an enormous confusion!!
