Legal term

Hi All,

I have signed a retainer agreement with a lawyer. I have the following two paragraphs confused.

----------
QUOTE 1:
I hereby retain and employ the law firm as my lawyers for the purposes of advising me in relation to collection of a syndicated mortgage loan in the amount of $100K and any other matters that I may request and they agree to perform on my behalf.

Q: Am I asking the firm to provide advices or ask it to represent me to do some thing on my behalf?

----------
QUOTE 2:
Your retainer in the amount of $1000,00 is a deposit on account of fees and disbursements owing to the law firm. Once these funds have been used, further arrangements will have to be made for the provision of a further retainer.

Q: Is it mandatory to arrange further fund once the deposit has been used?

Thank you very much for clarify the sentences for me.

Regards,
Mike
