'legal'

Hi,

Please have a look at this:

"The intelligence your salespeople gather about your customers can be put to good use in developing the best value propositions. The information needs to be shared with other functions, including legal, production, and research and development, that should participate actively in shaping those value propositions."

What does ‘legal’ here mean? Does it mean the function in an organisation whose job is to consult the leaders about law-related matters?

Thank you very much,

Nessie.

I think that legal refers to that division of the company that handles such matters. No more than that.
