Any mistake, please?

"As she was going to have dinner, she remembered she had left the money at home." (could I also say: "As she was going to have dinner, she remembered she left the money at home." ?)

Thanks! But I have another question, please. The action of remembering happened after and the action of leaving the money at home happened first. So why is it fine to consider simple past tense for both actions?

e.g."As she was going to have dinner, she remembered she left the money at home."
