Leaving cert

Could you correct it?

I passed English language in the Leaving Cert with a very good mark.

I'm saying about the exam when you finish secondary/high school (before you go to college/university).

Thanks.

I think there's silence because few of us are familiar with this term. I've never heard it before.

Hello,

I'm not familiar with leaving certificates, but if by "leaving certificate" you're referring to a leaving certificate exam, your sentence is fine. Was there something in particular that you were concerned about?

Sam

Yes, I'm referring to "Leaving certificate exam".

I wasn't sure whether I can say:

I passed the English language in [the name of an exam]...
I passed maths in [the name of an exam]... with a very good mark.
etc.

We don't have an equivalent test here.

I think I would say "the English portion of" or "the math section of."
