Leaving a doors width clearance

Meeting oncoming traffic is when the road is narrowed so that two cars cannot pass easily leaving a doors with clearance. This could be caused by parked cars or other obstructions such as road works, skips etc. The rule is to give way if the obstruction is on your left, stopping in such a place to allow the oncoming traffic to pass (the 'Holdback psotiion'). Do not stop too close to the kerb as vehicles following may think that you have parked.

Could you please explain to me the emboldened parts?

You have written both "a doors with clearance" and "a doors width clearance." I'm going to assume you mean neither, and opt for "a door's width clearance."

You should allow enough room so that if someone in a parked car suddenly opened a door in your path, you would not hit the door.

BTW, on which side of the street does one drive in your country?
