Leave unnoticed, galvanize

Hi,

1) "There are certain details in the assignment that you can't leave unnoticed."

I'm not sure if 'leave unnoticed' can be used instead of 'ignore'.

2) Do you use the word 'galvanize' in conversation or is it too formal?

"He spent a lot of time playing video games in order to galvanize himself into the role of a game player." (said about an actor)

"The fact that the due date is coming up has really galvanized me into studying." I'd probably use 'give incentive' instead but I'm curious to know if 'galvanize' works as well. It sounds a bit odd in my second example.

3) Could you tell me what the circled thing is called?

Thank you.
