Leave the shoe marks

Hi

Is it a typical way of saying this -- I mean the underlined part?

Although he saw the maid mopping the floor he ran across the hall and left his shoe marks all over.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Would you use a comma after floor?

Top answer

Mr. Tom Although he saw the maid mopping the floor he ran across the hall and left his shoe marks all over. That's reasonable, but I think most natives would say 'footprints'.

You are not going about this in the right way, Tom. I have given you the native term, 'footprints'. Other choices are understandable but not AmE/BrE.
