Leave out the subject, when?

Question

Hi,when can I leave out the subject? I know I can do that when "and" is present, but what about "but"?This seems good, but (it) is not.I tried to search for that stuff, but (I) didn't find anything....Advice? Thanks

Of course, you always omit the subject pronoun when giving a command: "[you] please put the butter on the table."

Both and and but allow that construction. I think that's what N2G was trying to tell you earlier.
