Leave it to me to fall for a dead guy

Mark was murdered and become a ghost. If the gatekeeper, Yama, caught his soul before his body was properly buried, he would go to hell forever. So Piper found hid body and made sure he was properly buried. At Mark's funeral, Piper said this sentence: Leave it to me to fall for a dead guy.

I looked up the dictionary and "leave it to me" means "let me be responsible for it". But I don't think the meaning fits well with the context. Could you tell me what "leave it to me" means here and what Piper wanted to express?

Thank you for your time and help.

cat fold 525 Could you tell me what "leave it to me" means here and what Piper wanted to express? Isn't it just typical of me and my bad luck (to fall for a dead guy)? It's a kind of "Woe is me" expression.
