Grammar

leave for

Hello
Would you help me with the place of words?

1) When does the last train leave for Brooklyn ? 2) When does the last train for Brooklyn leave?

Which one is natural? If both are OK, does these sentence express the same meaning or are these grammatically different? May I ask one more?

Can I use "to" instead of" for " like "the train to Brooklyn"?

Thank you.

Your first sentence is correct.

If you write "to" instead of "for", I'd change the word order to "when does the last train to Brooklyn leave?"

moon72961. The plane leaves for Dallas at 12.35.
2. The plane leaves Heathrow at 12.35.

Is for in #1 optional like in #2?

#1 Point of origin is not mentioned but destination is. So "for Dallas" is fine.

#2 Point of origin is Heathrow, destination unknown.
