Leave current

Hi

Leave current is a common expression in my part of the world. It's used when (rich) people ensure that there fences or barbed wires, etc will electrocute anyone trespassing.

Could you please tell me the natural expression?

The told his guard to _______________ the fences/barbed wires.

Thanks,

Tom

We don't use the plural 'barbed wires' where I live. It's always just 'barbed wire' (uncountable). You can replace 'fences' with 'barbed wire' if you wish.
