a. I left my gloves behind. b. I left beind my gloves.

I’d need some help if the two are the same meaning or interchangeable....

The first is far more natural with a single item. We might move 'behind' forward if we had a lot of items:

I left behind my gloves, my hat, my scarf and my walking stick.
