Leave alone

Hello Teachers,

Leave alone the finance aspect. Do you know that war can destroy lives?

Can 'leave alone' be used like this -to show that aside from finance, there are other problems too?

Thanks,
AJ

That idea is usually expressed as "Setting aside (economics)" or "Ignoring (economics)" or "Disregarding (economics)" at the beginning of a sentence. Setting aside its devastating effects on national economies, there are other more important factors to consider where war is concerned. The most important of these is the destruction of human life.

It's "let alone", not "leave alone", and you have used it oddly. And, by the way, it is almost a truism. The purpose of war is to destroy lives. But ignoring that, "let alone" is used more like this:

War destroys lives, let alone businesses.
