Please note - I have not used spell checker on this post so that it reflects how bad my writen communications are and hints at what areas I need help on.
As a youth I had no ability to comprehend or remember text that I read. This led to me loosing interest in school. I developed a mindset of " why make the effort to learn what I wont remember " and focused on what I was good at but didnt really enjoy ( Art, mechanics, computers and the like )
Now as a 37 year old adult I recently got diognosed and treated for a life long brain disorder and learning dificulty I am now finding that my poor grammer and writen word skills are not down to my inteligense but are due to the fact that I missed out on the basics of grammer, spelling and comprehension.
I have been self employed for 20 years as a film editor, 3D effects designer and training consultant. I also give free training to adults whith learning disabilities who need to be hands on to learn how to start up a company and keep it going. I am a little frustrated that the Univercity courses I wish to take are beyond my academic skills yet my knowledge on the subjects that interest me most is considered to be at Phd level ( Neurology - specialising in the synapse, executive function and the frontal lobe ). I would like to learn in as short a time frame as possible so that I may gain the Academic qualifications that I have so passionatly wanted all my life.
Any advice would be much apretiated. One thing I will mention is that I have tried helping myself in this area but I seem to be going in circles.
Thanks in advance
Chris
