Learning a foreign language by means of "submersion method" (*)

Hi,

I realize that (*) sounds "broken English" to you.

"Submersion" is used just figuratively here of course.

Anyway I hope you do understand what I mean ( "not using your mother tongue at all while learning a foreign language; trying to speak and even "think" in the language you are going to master")

So, what is the English for this method/technique?

thanks

Hi, Perhaps you mean 'immersion'. eg Here in Toronto, we have French Immersion schools, where English-speaking children have teachers, of all subjects, who speak only French to them. Clive

Hi,

Thank you

I indeed meant "language immersion"

To my surprise, the term "language submersion" is ok in its own right :-)
