Lead in?

I am in the middle of writing a English essay and I am having a problem thinking of another phrase to use besides "In the same way..." at the beginning of a paragraph.

I'm horrible at English, but at the same time I really like it. A contradiction I know.

To me, a little casual.

Very, very formal would be 'In like manner'.
