Layer up, edge

Hi,

1) “Now you can layer up the cake with strawberries.”

“After you make a base of the sponge cookies, start layering up the strawberries.”

2) “The belt gives the dress an edge.” (It makes the dress look more interesting.)

Are these sentences correct?
