Lay the platform

I've heard of "laying the foundation for success" but never "laying the platform for success". Is that standard English? Thanks

You do not lay a platform in any event. To lay a thing is to put in on, or sometimes under, the ground. A platform by definition is above the ground. You can lay the groundwork for success, though.
