Hi native speakers, do you use the idiom "lay of the land" in everyday conversation?
Do you think it's appropriate to use in the following situations?
1. Would you tell me more about ... so that I could have the lay of the land a little better?
2. I have faith in myself because I have the lay of the land much better than him. (In a competition)
