Lawyer/barrister

Could you tell me which term to choose:

I am writing a letter to a person who sold me a broken object of big value. The person lives in England.

At the end I am saying:

'My lawyer is familiar with the affair. Please contact me to solve the problem amicably, otherwise legal proceedings will be started.'

Is the word 'lawyer' ok or should I use the word 'barrister'?

Thank you!

Dear Shadok You are French - you do not have barristers or solicitors in your legal system. Therefore, the only person who can initiate legal proceedings on your behalf (to recuperate money for the defective boat you bought) would be your lawyer. Also, do not double post the same questions.

  • Two different people could be working on the same post and that is not fair.
  • Finally, a thank you from time to time to those that help you would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I did thank to some people, if I did not, I thanked in advance.

I thought it was better to devide my questions into some categories and topics so that it would also be a bit helpful to others.

As I am writing two really long letters, it would not be possible to put them all here.

Send them to my email address.

It can be found on my profile.

If you wish, you may send a succinct explanationin French so I am certain of the details.
