Laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste/ Writing task 2 of test 2 from cambridge book 11

Could you evaluate my essay, please? thank you so much for your help.

TASK 2

Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?

--

Due to the huge amount of recyclable waste from homes, unfortunately, left unrecycled by many people living under roofs, this has resulted in a waste of materials and unnecessary pollution for the environment. Since it is hard for people to simply rely on the self– discipline to see themselves recycling much of the domestic waste, I totally agree with the idea that there are no other ways to increase the volume of domestic waste recycled than to enact laws on recycling at homes.

It is believed that people have more responsibility while doing things which are legal requirements. Hence, legislative actions about recycling domestic waste can increase the number of waste from homes being recycled. Also, financial punishments such as fining, putting extra taxes on exceeding the amount of recyclable waste which is allowed to be dumped into trash bins of houses, and imprisonments of individuals who are frequently negligent about recycling their domestic waste, etc. would restrict the number of recyclable domestic waste being unrecycled or thrown away. As a result, encouraging people to recycle more of their domestic waste.

A mandate to recycle waste from homes do not only have people provide recyclable waste with a new life circle but also assure that people keep recycling domestic waste daily. After such laws have enforced people to recycle waste from homes, a “healthy” habit of recycling waste domestically is predictable. With that being said, there will be more and more waste from homes changed into new usable things, which becomes a signal for governments to expect success on increasing the number of people do recycling domestically.

All things considered, the amount of domestic waste which is recycled by people living under roofs rises if there is a sheer influence of legislative actions taken by governments. Therefore, laws are essential to make people recycle more waste from homes.
