Latin word Ad in English

In Dutch we often use the word "Ad" to explane a certain task. For instance when you offer to study the environmental conditions you could say: We perform the following:
1) assessing wind direction
2) assessing wind speed

Ad 1) The wind direction will be assessed using equipment type.... this instrument is capable of ... and has the following specs.... etc.

So the word "Ad" gives you the explanation of the task 1. How does this work in English. Is there a similar way to explain a numbered list?
