Grammar

later

"I will get even more late if I stop for a cup of coffee."

Is the sentence correct or should we use "even later" in place of "even more late" ?

"even later" seems a little awkward though the superlative form of the adjective "late" is "later"

according to all dictionaries.

Both sound OK to me (but I think I'd more naturally say "I'll be even later / more late ...")

Using "get" just sounds wrong to me. Try this "I will be even later..."
