...late sleeper...

I am looking for a term or an expression to describe someone who doesn't stay up very late at night. Can I say:

"I am not a late sleeper; I normally go to bed around 9pm ..." Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Hello Joey_5 My dictionary says "a later sleeper is a person who sleeps late in the morning (=who does not rise early in the morning)". "Night person" or "late-night person would be better if you want to mean "a person who stays up late". The antonym to "night person" is "morning person".

Hi,

There's the expression 'he's an early-bird'. I imagine this is derived from the proverb 'The early bird gets the worm'. The guy who gets up early, who gets to the office before everyone else, is an early-bird.

I suppose you might say this of someone who goes to bed before everyone else.

Best wishes, Clive

"Night person" or "late-night person" ... thanks a lot!!

"Early birds get the worms" is among one of the first English proverbs that I learned, but I have never heard people say "an early person". It sounds good though.

Thank you for the info.

To describe someone who doesn't stay up very late at night you don't say "He is not a late sleeper". You say "He is not much of a night owl".
If you want to rephrase it, you can just say "He doesn't stay up late" or "He goes to bed early".
