[last year's or two years ago] or [from last year or two years ago]

I have made up the two similar examples below.

(ex) Jack said to me, "I think I've watched this TV comedy before. When do you the production was ?

(1a) I replied, "I think it was last year's or two years ago."

(1b) I replied, "I think it was from last year or two years ago."

My non-native English speaking friends think both are OK. Do you agree with them? Thank you very much for your help.
