My sister had birthday is not natural, and you don’t need to say both the week and the day; just say one or the other. It is correct and natural enough, but I would not use it. I think this is more natural: My brother’s wedding was last [week / Saturday].

Hi

You can just use "last + weekday" to mean the most recent day of the week before now, but you do need the "it"...

- Last Saturday, it was my brother's wedding

- Last Thursday it was my sister's birthday

To my mind, you can put a comma in or not - it just depends whether you want a slight pause there

- It's -15 outside
- It's minus 15 outside

dave_anonbut you do need the "it".
The sentence is perfectly natural without it.

Of course, if you don’t use it, then you shouldn’t use the comma.

Hi

I see what you mean

- Last Thursday was my brother's wedding

It's not quite an announcement but, yes, it's good English
