What word would a teacher use in this context?

I never thought I'd last the whole month working for him but I'm happy that I did.
I never thought I'd hold out the whole month working for him but I'm happy that I did.

I'm happy I lasted the whole month. I thought I was going to quit a week in.
I'm happy I held out the whole month. I thought I was going to quit a week in.
