Last little piece of essay to be revised if needed

The raid was schedule to begin the night of April 19. Nearly two hundred men and sixteen B-25 planes were ready to make a surprise attack on . However, on the morning of April 18, a Japanese boat was spotted. The boat was destroyed, but there was no way of telling if a warning was radioed to Japan or even if the mission was compromised. So the volunteers had to leave ten hours early and miles away from Japan than they had originally planned.

The book goes into details about Captain Lawson and his crew during their raid on . There main problems were the turret and gas. Lawson was not sure if they had enough. In order to bomb Japan and escape gas was needed. After worrying for a while, Lawson and his crew reached Japan and their targets. It took them about thirty seconds to hit all of their targets. The only place that could not be bombed was the Japanese Emperor’s Place because it was not a military objective.

After the attack, Lawson and his crew dodged many Japanese planes. The Japanese planes never fire once which surprised Lawson. He just knew that they would be fired upon but it never happened. They easily got away from the Japanese planes. Moment later, Lawson crashed his B-25 plane which he called Ruptured Duck into the water. The horrible weather is believed to have caused both of the engines to fail. After a couple of minutes all of Lawson crew reached land and they were help by some Chinese people. They had to travel from town to town and village to village trying desperately to run from the Japanese. Lawson and his men spent days without medical attention or even



food. They finally reached a hospital many days later. This is where all of the Lawson men healed from their injuries but Lawson did not. Lawson decided to have his one of his leg amputated rather than the pain of having the doctors cut death flesh from his leg twice a day.

They finally got to a plane in the city of . They met and his crew there. told him that the raid were successful. All of the B-25 planes had hit their targets. The only bad news to reports was that the Japanese had captured one of the crews. They were finally going home after a month of many hardships and suffering.
