last

Is the following sentence correct?

"The story follows four years of undergrad, four years of med school, and beyond as the four build friendships and relationships that will last them a lifetime of memories."

If yes, then what is the meaning of "last" in the above sentence? Would be nice if you could give a few examples using this meaning of "last."

@Mister Micawber Thank you! But, I know the general meaning of the intransitive verb "last." However, I'm not familiar with the usage of "last" with an object..E.g. The food will last me three days. Is this sentence correct? I don't know. Is it correct to write that way?

@CalifJim Thanks a bunch! The sentence you wrote makes perfect sense to me. So, the sentence I wrote is completely wron

vdbSo, the sentence I wrote is completely wrong?
How can you conclude that? I used almost all of the same words as you did in your original sentence, and added a few changes, so what you wrote can't possibly be "completely wrong".

@CalifJim Oh, yeah. Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out how to use "last" with an object. Like, if I wrote the following sentences -

a) The food will last me three days.
b) I made memories that will last me a lifetime.

Would the above sentences be correct?
