large-living

Hello. Could anyone explain to me what "large-living" means? I found this expression in an article from TIME, but can't find its definition online.

The article was about a new movie Charlie Wilson's War, which was described as "the true story of a large-living Texas Congressman who secretly helped the mujahedin expel the Soviets from Afghanistan..."

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I would like to thank Feebs11 and Clive for their helpful and detailed replies to my last post.

Hi Vocabobobo, When you are "living large" you are enjoying life to the fullest. You probably spend a lot of money, spend time with beautiful people, eat great food, stay in nice places, etc. Charlie Wilson was apparently "living large," which makes him a "large-living" man.

  • I've certainly seen "living large" a lot, but not this form of it.

Thanks a lot Grammer Geek for your response.

I see a lot of expressions in TIME that I don't see anywhere else. I guess the writers love to play with words.

Thanks again.
