laptop VS notebook (computer)

Hi, I was wondering if the term "notebook Emotion: computer" is widely used among native English speakers.

I refered my laptop as "notebook" the other day and this friend of mine who's British said it might not be a proper word.

So... what do you think??? Is this some sort of a personal preference??

Thanks in advance!

It could be personal preference. I never call mine a notebook, but I wouldn't blink if someone else did.
