Laptop Feedback Loop! (OT)

This morning when I turned on my laptop to continue with Ruins in the Distance (up to page 55).I got the "Windows didn't start properly" screen. None of the safe modes worked, nor did "previous good configuration" nor "start Windows normally". Whenever I hit any one of them, the system would just loop back around to the "Windows didn't start properly" screen. Help!

That's what my wife's computer did. We ended up having to "rebuild it" i.e., reinstalled XP. But don't panic you can still retrieve your files before doing tha
