Language of Looks

Is this a proper idiom??

What I mean is that the way a person looks can give a variety of meanings without even uttering a word. It's somthing you know universal. It's as if eye has its own language of communication. So is there any thing in Eng to descride such a state?? When I say language of looks, would any native speaker find it awkward? ( It's actually a direct translation from an idiom in my mother tongue).

No, I can't think of anything concerning just the eye apart from specific contexts.(he gave me the evil eye, she was giving the handsome man the eye, he eyed her up).
