Please correct the grammatical errors and give your comments on this composition.
The Game I Cherish
It was all some 25 years ago. I was a mere 13 year old then. In what we used call ‘half’ pants my friend Seenu and I would go around our place for everything and anything our parents would ask.
Bicycle was our vehicle. Only one. He and I would take turns to ride.
On Sunday afternoons and also on Saturdays, we would go to the playground which was barely 500 m from our apartment. I don’t know if I can call it a playground in the real sense for it was a little bigger than a tennis court. But, what did it matter to us then! We could play nowhere else.
What a fun it would be to play the game of cricket there. Sometimes there would be simultaneous clashes between many groups and that would make the game all the more interesting. Sometimes we won’t know which group we belong to. Ball would be seen coming from all directions. We would incur the wrath of the batsmen of other groups when we accidentally block their shots. After all, it was all in the game.
Cricket was our passion and we would do anything for it. There were days when we played the game all day with just water and lemon juice at intervals.
Of all the wonderful moments of the game, two stand out and make me feel nostalgic. The first one is Seenu’s bowling action: I would wonder if he was imitating Malcolm Marshal, the legendary West Indian pace bowler of our days. The way he would start the run up would make us feel as if he was going to hurl a terrible weapon on the ‘enemy’ of the batsman. The second one was my characteristic flick of the rocketing out-swingers of pace bowlers to the off side for a quick single.
