Landing stints walking dogs

"When he's not working full time as an assistant store manager at Universal Orlando, the 26-year-old is on the prowl for side work, landing stints walking dogs and putting in part-time hours at a local mall retailer."

Hi, I have another question..!

I don't get clearly the meaning of 'landing stints walking dogs'. I think it means I use some time to walk dogs to make money, but the meaning of 'landing' is not very clear.

Could someone help me?

Thank you again!!

When you succeed at getting a job, you are said to have landed it. I suppose it is from the sport of fishing, where you land a fish, meaning to hook it and get it out of the water. "Landing stints" is fairly awkward, so no wonder it threw you.
