ladies versus girls

Please which word is suitable in the following situation?

There is a room full of girls/ladies of different age, but mostly twenties.
Should I call them 'ladies' or 'girls'?

Haha. That's a rather funny question to ask but a genuine one.
See, when you call a person belonging to the female gender as "girl" you are referring to them in a way that shows they're younger to you. Or are at least belonging to a young age category. It would surely be rude to call a person elder to you as "girl" especially when you don't know their age.
