Ladies' Day or Ladies Day?

Hi there- I have just read an article about Ladies' Day and throughout it, when the day was being referred to, there was no consistency with the use of the plural possessive apostrophe- sometimes the article said Ladies' Day and sometimes the article omitted the apostrophe and it simply read Ladies Day...I'm interested to know why?

Careless writing or poor editing. Both are acceptable. The definitive would be on an official 'Ladies'/Ladies Day' website, but I doubt there is one.
